Terms of Service

Last updated 25 October 2026.

ScriptaDraft is provided by Scripta Scientific Pty Ltd ("ScriptaScientific", "we", "us"), an Australian company. These Terms are an agreement between you and ScriptaScientific.

These terms govern your use of the product and will evolve as the product matures. Please review this page each time you visit.

1. The service

ScriptaDraft is a web-based manuscript drafting and review aid. We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time, and we do not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available. Where a change is significant, we aim to give reasonable notice when practical.

2. Originality and authorship

You warrant that all scientific ideas, hypotheses, specific aims, experimental approaches, interpretations, and other substantive scientific content of any manuscript or document produced with ScriptaDraft is the original work of you and your named collaborators. ScriptaDraft is an editing and review aid; it does not author your research.

3. Verification of references

AI models can produce citations that look plausible but do not exist. Whilst we have designed safeguards to reduce the risk of such errors (for example, the Verify DOIs option, which checks each reference against the publisher record), they do not remove it. You remain solely responsible for verifying every reference (PMID, DOI, author list, year, title) against the source of record before including it in any submitted manuscript or publication.

4. Journal and institutional policy compliance

You are responsible for understanding and complying with the AI-use policies of every journal you submit to and every institution at which you work. ScriptaDraft provides editing, reviewing, and reference assistance only — it does not certify, verify, or guarantee that any output complies with any specific journal or institutional policy.

5. Account security and protection of the service

Your account is for your own use. Without prior written consent, you must not:

6. Intellectual property

ScriptaDraft, including all software, design, algorithms, assessment frameworks, and content, remains the exclusive intellectual property of ScriptaScientific. You must not, in any context:

7. Your content

You retain all ownership of the manuscript text, references, notes, reviewer comments, and other material you create or upload to ScriptaDraft ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership of Your Content.

You grant ScriptaDraft a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the service to you — for example, to save your drafts, generate the AI assessments you request, and display your work back to you. This licence exists only to run the service and ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except for backup copies handled as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use Your Content to train AI models; AI processing uses Zero Data Retention as set out under "AI provider terms".

8. AI provider terms

ScriptaDraft uses third-party AI inference providers. All AI processing uses Zero Data Retention (ZDR), meaning submitted content is not retained by the AI provider after processing and is not used for model training. Where the underlying providers update their data-handling terms, ScriptaDraft will update these terms accordingly.

9. No warranty of compliance

ScriptaDraft is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScriptaScientific disclaims all warranties, including fitness for purpose, accuracy, and merchantability. ScriptaDraft is a supplementary tool only and must not be relied upon as the sole basis for manuscript submission decisions. ScriptaScientific makes no warranty that any specific output complies with any specific journal or institutional policy.

10. Limitation of liability

This section applies to the fullest extent permitted by law and is subject to the consumer-law protections set out below.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScriptaScientific will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, research opportunity, or funding, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the service — even if advised of the possibility of such loss.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of ScriptaScientific for all claims arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to ScriptaDraft in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) AUD $100.

Consumer law. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability for breach of such a guarantee cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ScriptaScientific and its affiliates from any claim, loss, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

12. Billing and payments

Paid plans and token packs are processed by our payment provider, Stripe, and made to Scripta Scientific Pty Ltd; charges appear on your card statement as SCRIPTA SCIENTIFIC, or SCRIPTA followed by the product. Prices are shown at the time of purchase in the currency for your region (for example, AUD for Australian users and USD for US users) and may change from time to time; for subscriptions, any price change takes effect from your next renewal.

Except where a refund is required by law (including under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer-protection law), payments for token packs and for elapsed or current subscription periods are non-refundable. Nothing in these Terms limits any right or remedy you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to ScriptaDraft, in whole or in part, if you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if it is reasonably necessary to protect the service or other users, or if required by law. Where practical and lawful, we will give you notice and, for a breach that can be remedied, an opportunity to put it right before suspending or terminating access.

You may stop using ScriptaDraft at any time, and may request deletion of your account as described in our Privacy Policy. On termination your right to access the service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive — including those on intellectual property, indemnification, and disclaimers of warranty — continue to apply.

14. Feedback

Any feedback, suggestions, or bug reports you provide may be used freely to improve ScriptaDraft without obligation or compensation.

15. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as the product matures. Material changes will be communicated via the application and recorded at the next sign-in. Continued use of ScriptaDraft after a material change constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, whichever regional ScriptaDraft service you registered through (scriptadraft.com/au or scriptadraft.com/us). You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of any mandatory consumer law of your place of residence that cannot be excluded by agreement.

17. General

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and ScriptaScientific regarding the service and supersede any prior understandings.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets.

Force majeure. Neither party is liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including internet or hosting outages, failures of third-party services, strikes, natural disasters, war, or government action. This does not affect your obligation to pay amounts due.

Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
